Mayor’s Letter – April 2025

April 2025

Council had our meeting this past Friday April 25th. We were able to approve our 2024 draft financial
statement. We have been dealing with a new auditor called Virtus Group out of Regina. They have
been very good to deal with and have everything completed on time unlike last year when it was not
completed until the end of the year.

We also approved the new education property tax mill rate which was set at 4.27 for residential property which is down from last year which was at 4.54. Our base tax this year is going from $525.00 per residence to $600.00 an increase of $75.00. This equates to less than $7.00 per month.

The storage lot and Marina fees will remain the same as last year. We have also decided to put half of the revenue from the Marina into a separate Marina fund to help with costs for the Marina. This year we have decided to decrease the tax discount from 15% to 5% if you pay your property taxes before July 31st. This saves the village $6000.00.

We are planning a work bee for Saturday May 17th which is Saturday of the long weekend weather permitting. We hope to cut some trees down in the Enchanted forest and haul away as well as cleaning up some of the forest in the village, put out the new buoys for the swim area and put on the public dock. We are hoping to meet at the Firehall for 9 and work for 2-3 hours. We are also having four loads of sand hauled in for the public beach in the next few weeks.

We have TJ’s bring a 20 yard metal bin for mid June to mid July so we can clean up the village of all scrap metal. We also hope to go through the storage lot area for boat trailers and fishing shacks and clean up that area over the next few months.

Until next month,
Kevin Henbid
