Mayor’s Letter – May 2025

May 2025

Council had its latest meeting this past Friday May 16th.  We approved the final Audit statement prepared for us by Virtus Group.  It was a pleasure working with them and they had the audit done on time.

We have decided to put our old acreage or dump site located on the Emerald Lake grid road up for sale.  Information can be seen on the website.  We will also be holding a Public Hearing regarding the sale of the buffer strip located between the cabins and the storage lots on July 18, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Firehall building.

We approved the purchase of the Swim area Buoys and they were installed by Craig and his family this past weekend.

We had another four loads of sand hauled in a few weeks ago and thanks to Don Harder for spreading it around.  It is starting to look a lot more like a nice public beach and it was great to see so many families and kids playing down there.

I would like to say thanks to Pat and Sandy for cleaning up the beach area along side the marina and Kent for picking up reeds on the beach.  Wayne, Murray, my son Travis and I installed the public dock along side the boat launch and have added another section so there is a lot of room to park boats while loading and unloading.  Darrel installed two new signs alongside the boat launch reminding people to clean, dry and drain your boat upon removing it from the lake.  Darrel and Pat also did some tree clean up in the enchanted forest.  Darrel and I also finished the walkway rail coming from Sunridge Place to the beach so it should be safer coming and going.

I plan to have a few post lights installed on the rail posts in the next few weeks.  We are currently looking for a new maintenance person to do odd jobs and cut the grass around the village as Elton has decided to retire after serving our village for many years and he will be missed.  An ad will be posted on the website and I will be placing an ad on the bulletin board in the next week.

We have a 20 yard metal bin coming to the lake on June 13 for one month to help clean up the area of unwanted metal in the village. The Firetruck is back up and running after being down for a few months as we had to replace many hoses and fix the tank after the heat went out in the garage this past January.  Thanks to Don, Wayne and Murray Heck for help in getting it back to operational status.

The Fire Ban is on and unfortunately it doesn’t look like it will be lifted for a long time as there is very little rain in the forecast for the next few weeks.  Our next meeting will be on Friday June 20th at 9am.

Until next month

Kevin Henbid | Mayor
