Mayor’s Letter – July 2025

July 2025

Council met this past Friday.  We had an action packed day starting with our meeting, followed by the Public meeting for the sale of land between the back of Sunridge Place and the Storage lots and finally a tour of the sewage lagoon owned by us, Big Shell Lake, Pelican Cove and Echo Baye.  At the meeting Pat presented about Crime Watchers.  If you are interested in joining the group or just want to know what is going on around our community I suggest you join.  Contact Pat or Ken for more information or contact:  pbcrimewatch2025@gmail.com.  They will also be having a food booth at the upcoming Thickwood Hills Studio Trail August 9/10 where you can get a sausage/bun and a drink for 4 dollars.  This is the 25th Anniversary for the tour and we have 6 local artists and guests at various locations around our village.  Sunday August 3rd there is also a pancake breakfast put on by Lorraine and Elton at 408 Sunridge Place with all the proceeds from breakfast and draws going to cancer research.

We have hired a young gentleman to cut the grass in our village and he will start at the end of July.  The metal recycling bin went over very well for the month with a collection of over 3.23 Tonnes.  We have decided that we will do another collection next year either in the spring or maybe the month of August.  Darrel, one of the councilors has been named the representative for the Marina, so if you have any questions about the Marina he is the one to contact.  His email is on the website.  I will be ordering some new signs to show where Crosswalks are located and a few No Pets signs for the public beach area.  Hopefully they will be installed over the next few weeks.  We also plan to bring in more sand for the public beach sometime in September.  It is looking a lot better now and the swim buoys now give a clear defined safe swim area.  There will be a road closure starting at 7-11pm on Saturday August 2nd on Sunridge Road to Westhill Road to allow for a block party being put on by Chelsea Harder and Family.  You will still be able to get around using Venture Road, Charles Road and Lakewood Drive.  One last note.  It has been brought to our attention that people are dumping lumber, plywood and other building materials in the tree dump site.  Only trees, grass clippings, weeds, leaves and garden stuff is allowed.  Our next meeting will be on Friday September 12th at the Firehall.

Until next meeting
