Council met this past Friday at the Maintenance shop. One of the big items on the Agenda was the cows at the far end of the lake by the new development. We had several people ask questions if anything can be done. We contacted the Provincial Government and were told to contact the local municipality. We talked with the Leask Administrator and they were aware of the situation and it was coming up at their local council meeting. We have not heard back of any decisions but we will keep you informed.
Another thing that came up was the use of trailers and boat parking. According to our Bylaws trailers are to be used for the occasional weekend with guests but not as permanent camping spot. Boat parking in your yard is fine or in the ditch if doing work on the boat but not for days on end. We need to keep the ditches and roadways clear for emergency vehicles. There is parking down in the storage lot area (by the garbage bins as you come into the development) for boats and trailers.
We had another four loads of sand hauled to the public beach and placed most of it close to the water so we now have a very nice beach for people to use. There is also a large pile for the kids to play on closer to the water. We have purchased a large locking garbage can which is located by the bathrooms and hopefully this will keep the foxes out of it.
I would like to thank Craig for taking out the swim Buoys and getting them cleaned up for next year and for helping me to keep the grass cut around the village. I would also like to thank Darryl for cutting trees in the Enchanted Forest.
The public dock has been taken out for this year. I would also like to thank all the people that give up their time to help get things done around the village. It is muchly appreciated!
Our next meeting will be the Public meeting which has been held for years in Saskatoon at the Rusty MacDonald Library. Unfortunately, we were unable to secure a room this year so we have decided to move the meeting to the Lions Hall in Shell Lake for Friday October 17 th starting at 7-8:30pm. Hope to see you all there.
